Frequently Asked Questions (Troubleshooting)

I am having problems programming my car (on board) remote.

My door won’t close – only closes part way and goes back up (reverses) – will only close if I hold in the wall button.

  • Safety photo eyes may be out of alignment – happens if they are blocked also (snow shovel or broom for example).  Located on the interior garage door tracks near the bottom.  Make sure that the beam of light is being received from one side to the other.  Clear the area and line up so that there is a steady green light on the unit.

 Lights won’t work.

  • Change bulbs – use heavy-duty light bulbs, check socket for proper wattage.

 Remotes won’t work.

  • If the operator works by the wall button, first check batteries, they may need replacing.  If not, the remotes may need to be re-programmed.
  • check if lock button on wall control panel is ON.

 Reprogramming remotes.

  • At the back of the operator head there will be a “smart” button (it may be red, yellow or green).  You may have to remove a light cover, push in the “smart” button then push your remote button – door should open.  Do not hold the push button in as that action will clear all programming and all remotes and keypads will have to be reprogrammed.
